Benito Nunez is a Mexican-born artist living and working in Southern California. Influenced by pop culture and religion his art reflects living between two worlds, never belonging and always yearning for what was and what could be.
His work is often whimsical and melancholy, and highlights the beauty, the absurdity, and the complexity of life, like the movies from the “Golden Age of Mexican Cinema” that he watched as a child.
Benito began his artistic career with a focus on oil painting and sculpture. Over the years he has added digital practices to his creative arsenal, and now focuses on blending traditional with digital. Benito is compelled to create, regardless of the medium he’s working in. He is driven by a need to express himself and share his experience within the Mexican-American culture.
